Many in the media (looking at you CNN) as well as Democratic presidential hopefuls continue to perpetuate the lie that President Trump called neo-nazis “Fine People”. You can read the full transcript for yourself.
The second part of the quote, which is often left out, makes it clear that the “fine people” President Trump was talking about were the people who came to protest and counter protest, the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue.
The “fine people” hoax is the linchpin hoax for creating the perception that President Trump is a vile racist who has no business being in the White House. Despite the valiant efforts of Scott Adams (who authored the definitive debunk which you can read here), and Joel Pollack of Breitbart News (all of Joel’s articles about the “fine people” hoax can be found here), this myth still has life left in it. If we are ever going to heal the great divide in our country, this hoax needs to be so discredited that the cost of its invocation becomes reputational suicide.
