This Salon video necessitated a response from yours truly.

My apologies to Professor D. Watkins the star of this accidentally hilarious video for not responding in the same medium, but I’m not about to set up my camera, lighting, mic blah blah etc, just so you all can look at me while I explain to you why Congressman (yes snowflakes, even female members of congress are referred to as “Congressman”) Maxine Waters shouldn’t be the President.

Firstly here are the 5 reasons the good Professor proffered (commentary in bold):
5. She understands the people. “The people” is this a dog whistle that I can’t hear?
4. She has been an outspoken advocate for women and the poor. She speaks loudly and often about the downtrodden, has she taken any actions on their behalf? Done anything to make the lives of her constituents in South Central, LA any better?
3. She was against the war in Iraq. How Trumpian of her.
2. She loves the millennials. Does she enjoy watching ‘Girls’?
1. She’s not afraid to attack the right.  Making her the same as every other Democrat politician.

Heavy on the feels and light on the facts. Sorry Professor you’re gonna need to try a bit harder if you’re being serious about wanting Maxine to move into 1600 in 2020. You haven’t even convinced me that your video isn’t a joke.

Under no circumstances should Congressman Maxine Waters be President of the United States.

Maxine Waters is corrupt. I know, I know, politicians are lying, thieving, scum, but Waters is one of the worst. That’s not just my opinion, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) a lefty non-profit that was founded in 2003 as a counter-weight to Judicial Watch, has included Waters on their annual Most Corrupt Members of Congress Report multiple times.

This is what CREW wrote about why they included Waters on their 2011 list:

In the midst of a national financial catastrophe, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) used her position as a senior member of Congress and member of the House Financial Services Committee to prevail upon Treasury officials to meet with OneUnited Bank.  She never disclosed that her husband held stock in the bank.  This outrageous conduct has led Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) to include the congresswoman as one of the Most Corrupt Members of Congress.

“By contacting then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to request a meeting, allegedly for a group of minority-owned banks, but then arranging for only one bank – OneUnited, in which she had a financial interest – to attend, Rep. Waters violated House conflict of interest rules,” said CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan.

Around the same time Rep. Waters asked the Treasury Department to hold the initial meeting, Rep. Waters spoke to Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) about OneUnited, telling him that her husband previously had served on the board.  Rep. Frank advised her to stay out of matters related to the bank. Nevertheless, Rep. Waters’ chief of staff and grandson, Mikael Moore, continued to actively assist OneUnited representatives in their quest to receive bailout funds, and worked to craft legislation authorizing Treasury to grant OneUnited’s request.

She may “understand the people” but she doesn’t seem to give a damn about “the people.” OneUnited got $12,000,000 in TARP funds (read: taxpayer dollars) thanks to Maxine’s dogged efforts. Or maybe it was her Chief of Staff grandson’s doing. According to the House Ethics Committee findings, the grandson didn’t have a clue that his grandfather held stock in OneUnited. Riiiiiight.

Nothing stuck to Waters. Following a three-year investigation she was cleared of all ethics charges. Politicians are lying, thieving, scum, and they’re all in on the game. If one of them goes down, they could very well bring others down along with them so they protect their own.

So no Professor, Maxine Waters, the woman who loves millennials so much that she prioritized her financial health over theirs, shouldn’t be our next President.
