Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, on sale today, offers a revealing look behind the curtain of the Clinton Campaign.
The book was written over the course of a year and half and contains interviews with over a hundred sources. All of the interviews were conducted on background (read: all quotes are anonymous) people felt free to to speak candidly about their experiences on the Clinton Campaign. They didn’t hold back, or try to sugar coat things. It’s brutal.
In the Introduction we find this juicy tidbit:
Hillary’s campaign was so spirit-crushing that her aides eventually shorthanded the feeling of impending doom with a simple mantra: We’re not allowed to have nice things.”
Ouch. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The book promises to reveal the in-fighting between the four internal campaign camps; The Mook Mafia, The State Crew, The Consultants, and The Communications Shop. The overall disorganization of the campaign, and the lack of focus and vision that led to Clinton’s defeat.
