This week on the big show, Fingers and Tracy discuss Tracy’s trip to DC to attend the #RallyforPeace, the series of unfortunate events that befell CNN in the past week, Bernie Sanders’ wife’s legal troubles, and Ashe Schow returns!
I went down to DC to attend Jack Posobiec’s book launch party and the #RallyForPeace. On my way to the rally, I had to pass by the assembled freakshow by the White House gates. Here’s what that mess looked like.
The #RallyForPeace was a great event, with excellent speakers and a decent turnout considering it was announced only a few days earlier.
Now onto CNN’s no good, very bad week. First there was an article that was published on CNN.com that had to be memory holed after Breitbart did some digging and determined that the story was very fake news:
Another day, another very fake news story from the network President Donald Trump has identified as “very fake news.”
CNN’s Thomas Frank on Thursday evening published what would have been considered an explosive report if remotely true: One anonymous source told him both the Treasury Department and Senate Intelligence Committee are probing a Russian investment fund with ties to several senior finance world leaders close to President Trump. Only problem? Both Trump administration officials and those close to Senate GOP leadership say it’s simply untrue.
Frank wrote, using one anonymous source:
The source said the Senate intelligence committee is investigating the Russian fund in connection with its examination of discussions between White House adviser Jared Kushner and the head of a prominent Russian bank. The bank, Vnesheconombank, or VEB, oversees the fund, which has ties to several Trump advisers. Both the bank and the fund have been covered since 2014 by sanctions restricting U.S. business dealings.
While the Senate Intelligence Committee had no comment on the matter when asked by Breitbart News about this report of a supposed probe, a source close to Senate GOP leadership told Breitbart News this claim is entirely untrue and there is no such probe in the committee.
The source close to Senate GOP leadership told Breitbart News:
This is nothing besides Democrats trying to frustrate the efforts of President Trump’s administration while Elizabeth Warren and those of her ilk spend their days collecting taxpayer funded paychecks while they do nothing but stand in the way of the progress of the American agenda and are responsible for this nonsense. They should put their names on it if they want to waste taxpayer money on it.
This massive screw up resulted in this internal memo, which got leaked to BuzzFeed.

According to the New York Post, Anthony Scaramucci, who was named in the CNN piece threatened a lawsuit and the three CNN employees who were involved in the publication of the very fake news story got the boot.
The specter of a $100 million libel suit scared CNN into retracting a poorly reported story that slimed an ally of President Trump’s — and forcing out the staffers responsible for it, The Post has learned.
The cable network’s coverage of Trump transition team member Anthony Scaramucci came amid federal scrutiny of corporate parent Time Warner’s pending purchase by AT&T — and the widespread belief among media execs that CNN President Jeff Zucker can’t survive a merger.
CNN immediately caved after Scaramucci, a financier and frequent network guest, cried foul and threatened to take legal action, sources said Tuesday.
Scaramucci got an unusual public apology but still hired a top Manhattan lawyer to put further pressure on CNN and “look after [his] interests in this matter,” one source said.
Sources also said the three journalists responsible for the retracted story — reporter Tom Frank, editor Eric Lichtblau and Lex Haris, who headed the CNN Investigates unit — were urged to resign.
Just when it appeared that CNN was out of the woods, James O’Keefe dropped a bomb.
More to come.https://t.co/m5lQ01keo1

The hits kept coming all week.
O’Keefe isn’t finished yet.

How many more heads will roll at CNN by the time O’Keefe is finished exposing them? Hard to say, but they appear to be trying out new anchors in case there are vacancies in their lineup. We’re really hoping that Elmo replaces Don Lemon.
Ashe Schow’s back this week! She shared her thoughts on the CNN stories and discussed just how much time the media has devoted to the Russia story. Via News Busters:
A Media Research Center study of every broadcast network evening newscast in the five weeks since the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller on May 17 found a whopping 353 minutes of airtime devoted to the Russia probe, or 55 percent of all coverage of the Trump presidency during those weeks.
The networks’ relentless coverage of Russia meant little airtime was spent on important policy topics, as the investigation garnered 20 times more attention than the new health care bill, 100 times more attention than the administration’s push to improve the nation’s infrastructure, and a stunning 450 times more coverage than the push for comprehensive tax reform.
Speaking of lunatics, Bernie Sanders and his wife Jane are in a bit of trouble. From Breitbart:
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and his wife Jane Sanders have hired lawyers to navigate the FBI’s investigation into alleged financial wrongdoing while Jane was president of Burlington College.
The FBI is investigating Jane Sanders for potentially committing fraud when she applied for loans for Burlington College between 2004 and 2011.
Sanders took out a $10 million loan from People’s United Bank in 2010 to purchase 33 acres of land to be added to the college’s holdings. But in applying for the loan, the FBI is investigating as to whether or not Sanders misrepresented the school’s donor levels to make the college seem like it had more income than it actually did, VTDigger.org reported.
Bernie seemed a bit snippy with Mz. Burnett didn’t he? I believe what we just witnessed is commonly referred to as mansplaining.
